Chinese EV Innovator Unveils Revolutionary Tech for Autonomous Vehicles, Flying Cars, and Humanoid Robots

A leading Chinese automotive brand has unveiled a groundbreaking technological advancement that promises to revolutionize the future of transportation. Xpeng, known for its cutting-edge innovations, has introduced a new vehicle technology that will transform the way we interact with self-driving cars, flying vehicles, and even humanoid robots.

The brand's CEO, He Xiaopeng, revealed that Xpeng will be releasing an advanced autonomous driving system later this month, prioritizing road safety and enhancing self-driving capabilities. This system, called Vision-Language-Action (VLA) 2.0, is designed to push the boundaries of self-driving technology towards Level 4 autonomy.

Xpeng's VLA 2.0 will be deployed in China for its Robotaxi vehicles, which have already begun supervised public-road testing. The brand aims to launch these trials this year, marking a significant step towards fully autonomous transportation.

The system is powered by artificial intelligence and is versatile, capable of being used in Robotaxi fleets, humanoid robots, and modular flying vehicles. Xpeng's Physical AI strategy focuses on utilizing technology to power intelligent machines in various real-world environments.

Mr. Xiaopeng emphasized the rapid development of the VLA 2.0, stating that it is the first version designed to achieve full autonomous driving and will be iterated at an unprecedented pace. He predicts that full autonomy will be achieved within the next one to three years, making autonomous driving an integral part of daily travel.

Early testing has shown a 23% improvement in driving efficiency in dense urban and mixed-traffic conditions. The technology can identify erratic vehicles, navigate accident scenes, and even yield to smaller vehicles, showcasing its advanced capabilities.

Xpeng has also introduced the Next-Gen Iron humanoid robot, which features the smallest 'harmonic joint' for a 1:1 hand size. Standing at almost six feet tall and weighing 70kg, it has 'fully covered flexible skin'. Mr. Xiaopeng stated that Xpeng aims to achieve large-scale mass production of high-level humanoid robots by the end of 2026.

Additionally, Xpeng is accelerating its development of flying cars, with the XOS 5.8.7 update set to be released in Europe. This update includes optimizations for Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Control, improving stability and driver experience.

Xpeng's commitment to technological innovation and its focus on enhancing existing vehicle fleets position it as a leader in the EV industry, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in autonomous transportation.
